A “gang” of volunteers from Honda showed their community spirit and support during Honda Canada Cares Week of Service last Saturday, June 9 by constructing the new gazebo at Matthews House Hospice new facility at 131 Wellington St. E., Alliston.

Team Lead Sheila Goodfellow organized two teams to help build the Gazebo kit. Named in honour of Jim Milligan, the gazebo stands proudly in the newly planted gardens.

Nancy Milligan, Jim’s widow provided the volunteer group with home made lunch at mid day.

Special thanks goes to long time MHH volunteers Bob Maars and Jack Aspinall who spearheaded the build and prepared for weeks in advance  to make sure all was in order.

Julie Ellsworth, Honda associate “It was a great day and I’m still in awe over what was accomplished in only eight hours. Many hands definitely do make light work.  The gazebo is beautiful.”

We invite the community to come and experience the new gardens and gazebo at the Ribbon Cutting, Thursday, June 21 at 1 p.m. with ribbon to be cut at 1:31 p.m. (our new address).
