Register by June 4 for the Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute workshop, Make Your Own Hypertufa Container.

Hypertufa looks like stone, but is lightweight, and easily moulded into planters and other containers perfect for displaying rock garden plants and succulents.

The hypertufa will age over time, collecting mosses and lichens.

The workshop will take place June 16 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute Hall in Newton Robinson, with a session on June 18 to add any finishing touches and pick up the finished container.

There is only room for 10 people for this fascinating workshop.

Bring a hand-sized garden trowel and a container to use as a mould, keeping in mind that it is the inside dimensions that will be used (about 30 centimetres by 30-60 cm is recommended).

Everything else, including mask, gloves, ingredients and plastic, will be provided. Dress for mess.

Cost is only $7 for Tec-We-Gwill Women’s Institute members, or $22 for non-members. Call Andrea at 705-458-8964 to register.
