The historic Craigleith Heritage Depot is the focus of a documentary being screened later this month in Thornbury.
The Craigleith Heritage Depot, the Blue Mountains Public Library (BMPL) and Mountain Goat Films have announced the premiere of Craigleith Station, described as a "captivating documentary" directed and produced by Tracey Strnad and Tom Strnad.
The premiere will take place at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.
“This film is the ninth installation of the BMPL’s REEL History Film Series,” museum curator Alessia Farris says. "It explores the rich history of the Craigleith Station and its transformation from a railway station to a restaurant, and eventually into a branch of the Town of The Blue Mountains’ library system, serving as a library, archive and museum."
Craigleith Heritage Depot is located about 10 minutes west of Collingwood, at Highway 26 and Grey Road 19.
“Perhaps the most important part of the film is that it captures how 'The Depot,' as it’s affectionately known, has profoundly impacted the lives of those who have come to know and love this vibrant community hub," says producer Tracey Strnad.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., allowing attendees the chance to travel back in time and explore mini-exhibits featuring artifacts and photographs related to the Station. The film screening will begin at 7 p.m.
