Halloween Home Tour brings frightful 'tradition' back to Bradford

Event returns for fifth year with almost two dozen homes vying for best presentation

Skeletons, ghosts, zombies and all manner of creepy creatures are once again taking over Bradford neighbourhoods.

The Halloween Home Tour is back for a fifth year in town, with almost two dozen homes competing to best capture the scary spirit of the holiday through decorative and sometimes interactive displays in yards and on houses.

Everyone is welcome to take a self-guided tour thanks to maps provided online by Jessica Harcourt, a local real estate agent, who has been organizing the event since 2020, when it was originally intended to help people celebrate Halloween during the COVID-19 pandemic while social distancing.

“People now look forward to it every year and tell me that it is now a tradition for their family,” Harcourt said, adding she hopes everyone can enjoy some free family-friendly fun in neighbourhoods across town.

The response this year has already been “great,” and Harcourt appreciates the “many” homes who have been participating for multiple years, such as 63 Faris St., which sports a new theme this year.

There have also been four new homes join the list so far, which includes:

  • 53 Turner Court
  • Britannia Avenue at Jay Street (collecting food and personal-care items for food bank)

The winner will receive a $250 gift card to a store of their choosing, according to Harcourt.

“I am very grateful to the homeowners that make this possible each year. They work so hard,” she said. “Please give them a high five if you see them.”

Drive carefully, Harcourt advises, and remember to be cautious while slowing down or exiting vehicles.
