Green Valley neighbourhood puts on its own holly, jolly holiday event (5 photos)

Residents in the Green Valley Estates subdivision put on their own holiday event on Saturday afternoon featuring photos with Santa, a scavenger hunt and a house decorating contest

The holidays are just around the corner, with only 12 days until the Big Guy in Red arrives.

This past weekend, neighbours in the Green Valley Estates subdivision put on their own holiday décor contest and party, where judges took the streets to pick vote on their favourites.

The event was organized by resident and mortgage agent Debbie Viveiros, which kicked off with a children's scavenger hunt, followed by cookies, hot chocolate and sweets from local bakery Sweet B's, while children's entertainer Russ Clayton performed holiday tunes for all to enjoy.

Santa even stopped by to take photos with all the girls and boys, courtesy of Cheeky Photography.

‘’The best part of the whole event today was seeing the local children be children to run, play and just be them themselves, and the truly the taking pictures with the backdrop and Santa was truly a highlight for all the kids," said Viveiros.

Viveiros said it was nice to see everyone gathered, old residents and ones new to the area, creating a sense of community during the holiday season.

The event was sponsored by: Sweet B's Bakery, List with Louise Real Estate, Complete Handyworks, Cheeky Photographt, and Debbie Viveiros Mortgage Agent with Mortgage Edge.

The top three winners of the home décor content will be announced soon.

First place winner will take home a $250 gift card to Home Depot, Second place, a $100 gift card to Brick and Fire restaurant, and Third place, a $50 Visa gift card.
