NEWS RELEASE
RESCUE LAKE SIMCOE COALITION
*************************
The Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition is bringing the laughs to Barrie this April for its fourth annual Laugh For Lake Simcoe! On April 11, 2025, the Georgian Theatre in Barrie welcomes headliner Steve Hofstetter and local talents Tracy Hamilton and Chris Quigley. The show’s proceeds will support the Coalition’s advocacy and education for Lake Simcoe.
“In the lead up to Valentine's Day, I want to point out that humour is the glue that keeps a lot of relationships together. Get your sweetie the gift of laughter by getting a ticket for our show,” suggests Executive Director Claire Malcolmson.
Long-standing Corporate Sponsors, Accessibility Professionals are covering half of the event’s cost. And Kool FM / Rock 95 / Barrie 360 will once again promote the show on air and online, and give away some tickets in the final week before the show.
Headliner Steve Hofstetter is a New Yorker whose comedy genres are described as observational comedy, political satire, and social commentary, and his popular subjects include “American culture, foreign policy and ignorance”. Aren’t you dying to hear from someone like this, right now!? One million Youtube subscribers tell you he’s onto something worth hearing. Laugh with your fellow Canadians as we face dark times.
“Comedy is one of our top exports. Anyone looking for a way to express their love of Lake Simcoe AND Canada - this show’s for you,” jokes Malcolmson.
Plan a night out with your friends, your sweetie, or your co-workers! Get connected to the Rescue Lake Simcoe community and our programs. Bid on a silent auction item, have a drink, kick back and laugh.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, February 6th at noon, and can be purchased through Georgian Theatre here:https://tprocob.ticketpro.ca/en/pages/COB_LFLAKESIMCOE?aff=cob

As this is the RLSC’s fourth Laugh For Lake Simcoe, local talents approached the Rescue Lake Simcoe Coalition to get in front of this audience. Chris Quigley is described as a favourite at Yuk Yuk's clubs, colleges and festivals across the country, appealing to those who are ‘fans of comedy with little to no vulgarity’. Tracy Hamilton’s “conversational style and cheerful sarcasm” will make you feel as comfortable as she feels in her many cardigans.
“It’s always nerve wracking to invite a stranger to be part of your brand. Some comedy out there is just plain mean and gross, and that’s not us. Every year we get better at screening for that,” explains Malcolmson.
