The future of how to foster a sense of belonging in our communities is at the heart of Georgian College’s annual Research, Innovation, Scholarship and Entrepreneurship (RISE) Symposium, taking place on Wednesday, April 3 at the Barrie campus.
The RISE Symposium celebrates the intersection of innovation and academia, showcasing groundbreaking work being done at Georgian and beyond. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with leading experts, explore emerging trends, and forge valuable connections.
“RISE is not just a gathering of individuals but rather a celebration where education, collaboration, and opportunity come together to share the broad mosaic of innovation within the college and community,” said Dr. Mira Ray, executive director, Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Georgian.
Anthony Morgan, host of CBC’s The Nature of Things and a renowned thought leader and science communicator, is scheduled to be this year’s keynote speaker.
Georgian’s Social Innovation department and the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka will also be making a joint announcement regarding The Future of Belonging Project, which is aimed at exploring and strengthening social connections within our communities and fostering a sense of belonging.
The free event, which serves as an invaluable opportunity for students, faculty, industry professionals, and community members to come together and foster collaboration, creativity and innovation, is open to the public. The theme of this year’s event is Inspiring Thriving Futures.
