It was a beautiful, sunny September day for a free BBQ at Genesis Gymnastics on Sunday afternoon, compliments of owner Donna Katz who hosts an annual customer appreciation BBQ every year for clients and friends.
The event offered free hamburgers, hotdogs, veggie burgers, and drinks, as well as free open gym time for children to come and play. Newcomers were also welcomed with the opportunity to try out the gym’s facilities.
“(It's) a day to show my clients and their friends and families how much I appreciate their support!” exclaims Katz who, despite all the Covid-lockdowns and restrictions over the past year, was still able to keep her doors open.
Registration was required for the event and all those who attended were automatically entered into a draw for a free "Date Night" basket which included a $75 gift certificate to Brick n’ Fire restaurant located in Bradford, as well two bottles of wine and a pair of wine glasses, chocolate-covered cherries, and a free pass to Genesis’ Date Night package.
“It’s a new event we are doing every Friday night,” explains Katz about the new date night option at the gym. “(From) 6:30 – 9 p.m., drop kids off for pizza, gymnastics, and a movie, (and) parents go on a date!”
The winner of the basket was Bradford resident, Wendy Noddin.
Katz found ways to pivot during lockdowns and other Covid-restrictions this past year by hosting outdoor gymnastic classes (many of them free of charge) to help keep kids mobile during the summer.
Once allowed back in the gym, she was able to continue her day camp program this summer, which helped not only to keep her doors open but also gave parents a safe place to have their children entertained.
“We had an awesome summer camp!” she shares. “So many kids came and had a blast! The kids were so ready to be back!”
Genesis Gymnastics is open and ready for fall registration.
“Let’s get the kids back moving again!” she says.
