March 21 is the first official day of Spring - but gardeners are already beginning to stir from their long winter hibernation.
The Innisfil Garden Club isn’t waiting for the official start of spring. The club’s first meeting of 2020 takes place Monday March 9 at the Churchill Community Centre at 7:30 p.m. Guest speaker is David Hawke. Refreshments will be served following the meeting.
Canada Blooms, Canada’s biggest indoor garden show returns to the Enercare Centre in Toronto, March 13 to 22 – on the theme, Connecting People to Nature. Features fantasy gardens by top designers, architects and garden builders; the Garden Club of Toronto’s Toronto Flower Show; educational events, workshops and speakers; Gilda's Club Gnome Garden, and more. The Bond Head/Bradford Garden Club (formerly the Horticultural Society of Bond Head & District) will be holding its first meeting of 2020 on Thursday March 26 at the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre, 715 Simcoe Rd. in Bradford. The meeting, which begins at 7:30 p.m., will feature guest speaker Brian Scott, Bee Keeper and owner of Innisfil Creek Honey.
The BWG Public Library and BWG Seed Library host a Seedy Saturday, on Saturday March 21 at the library, 425 Holland St. West in Bradford. Drop by from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an all-ages celebration, featuring gardening workshops, children’s activities, displays and dozens of vendors.
On March 28, the Innisfil IdeaLAB & Library and the Innisfil Seed Library host their 4th annual Innisfil Seedy Saturday – from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeshore Library, 967 Innisfil Beach Road. Drop in for a day of displays, a Seed Exchange, guest speakers and more. Topics include Learn to Save Seeds, Simple Seed Starting, The Buzz About Pollinators, and How to achieve Healthy Soil.
