Funeral tomorrow for teen killed in Barrie crash

'Everyone is taking it very, very hard, especially her grandmother,' says Paige Ferreira's mother

Visitation will be held today for a 17-year-old Barrie girl who died after a single-vehicle rollover last week, followed by the funeral Tuesday morning.

Paige Ferreira died from her injuries Jan. 29 when the vehicle she was a passenger in flipped and rolled on Georgian Drive.

Ferreira was pronounced dead at Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) that night, while the 17-year-old male driver sustained minor injuries.

Barrie police continue to investigate, but have not yet determined the cause of the collision.

The flag at Eastview Secondary School, where Ferreira was a student, has been at half-staff since Thursday.

Many students have also been expressing their condolences on social media.

Sister site, BarrieToday spoke briefly with Ferreira’s mother, Cathy, on Friday.

“Everyone is taking it very, very hard, especially her grandmother," she said.

Ferreira’s visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, located at 445 St. Vincent St., today from 2-4 p.m. and again this evening from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be in the chapel on Tuesday beginning at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

The family says memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the OSPCA's Alliston branch.

Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family through adamsfuneralhome.ca.
