I don’t know about you, but a couple recent wintry blasts really got me into the holiday spirit.
Once the snow is shovelled and the roads are cleared, it’s kind of nice to just sit back at night, sip a hot chocolate, look outside and admire how the lights hit the snow. Of course, with or without the white stuff, we’ve fully entered the holiday season, with Santa Claus having a strong presence throughout the weekend in South Simcoe, a couple of charitable functions taking place, and even some outdoor carolling planned.
Here’s what’s happening in Bradford and Innisfil in the coming days:
Bring the brass
The second annual Innisfil Christmas Tubafest is happening at Town Square (971 Innisfil Beach Rd.) on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 11 a.m. It’s open to all low brass players — tuba, euphonium, baritone and trombone — who want to play Christmas carols in this unique ensemble. Register by sending your name and instrument details to [email protected]. Registration is required to provide players with the music and set list and changes due to weather, and help organizers determine numbers.
A Magical family function
Magical Events will host its second annual Christmas Family Event in support of WOW Living Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Bradford Community Hub (177 Church St.). Tickets are $5 and all proceeds support WOW’s 2024 Christmas WishList program. WOW is on a mission is to provide people living in poverty with the tools and resources they need to increase resiliency. This fundraiser will include a meet-and-greet with Santa Claus, games, sweet treats, a colouring contest and music. A donation bin for the Helping Hand Food Bank will be on location as well. Tickets can only be purchased online at eventbrite.ca.
Dine with Santa
Have a bite to eat with the Jolly Old Elf at Harbour House Grill’s Santa’s Brunch on Sunday, Dec. 15. Enjoy a buffet filled with seasonal favourites and snap photos with Santa. Each child will receive a special gift, and there will be a crafts station and festive music, too. The restaurant is at 727 Harbour St. in Lefroy and the event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at harbourhousegrill.com.
Lose some jammies for a good cause
The Innisfil Spartans hockey team is presenting its third annual Pajama Toss on Sunday at the Innisfil Recreational Complex (7315 Yonge St.), starting at 3:30 p.m. See a festive and exciting game and toss new PJs onto the ice when the Spartans score their first goal. All PJs collected will be donated to Community for Kids. More details can be found at innisfilspartans.com.
