Whether you were sending the kids off to school or returning from a little rest and relaxation, I hope the last week went smoothly.

In our family, the first days of September always mark transition and a return to a feeling of normalcy and consistency. It can be an adjustment going from late nights and impromptu gatherings over the summer to schedule and routine, but we mostly seem to thrive when we can see the road ahead.

This weekend’s calendar really follows that same path, with the return of Bradford’s CAN meeting and some weekly family favourites sprinkled in.

Here’s what’s happening in Bradford and Innisfil:

Community Access Networking (CAN) in Bradford

Ward 6 residents are invited to learn more about town services and share ideas with Mayor James Leduc, Deputy Mayor Raj Sandhu and Coun. Nickolas Harper at Fire Station 1, 75 Melbourne Dr., Saturday, Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. CAN is an initiative established by council, providing residents the opportunity to raise issues in a relaxed, friendly and informal environment. Although the events have been designed to highlight one ward per meeting, all residents are welcome to attend any date of their choosing. To learn more about CAN or to view the meeting schedule, visit townofbwg.com.

Drop-in family storytime

Join staff at the Lakeshore branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.) Saturday for the next instalment of this weekly family event. Expect an hour of stories, songs, crafts and playtime. Get to know other families in your community while nurturing your child's love of books and reading. All ages are welcome, though it is considered most suitable for kids six and under. This event is free, it runs from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and no registration is required.

Ukrainian Heritage Day in Bradford

Get to the Zima Room at the BWG Library (425 Holland St. W.) for the celebration. Bring family and friends to enjoy live music, dance performances, cuisine, kids activities, exhibitions and crafts. This event takes place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Roll on over to Playapalooza

The Innisfil ideaLAB and Library’s Lakeshore branch (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.) will host Playapalooza on Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. This rendition features the Board Game Cafe. All ages are welcome to this free event. No registration is required.
