Well, did you survive the holidays?

The Christmas and Hanukkah season is one of the busiest on my family’s calendar. And while this year was quite a bit different than in the past, we got through it as a family. There’s still no substitute for the smiles and excitement radiating from your kids as they experience the magic of the holidays — their mood is contagious.

I hope you had some time to relax, enjoy and be with the ones you love.

Here’s what’s happening in Bradford and Innisfil this weekend:

Drop-in family storytime

Join staff at the Lakeshore branch of the Innisfil ideaLAB and Library (967 Innisfil Beach Rd.) Saturday, Jan. 4 for the next instalment of this weekly family event. Expect an hour of stories, songs, crafts and playtime. Get to know other families in the community while nurturing your child's love of books and reading. All ages are welcome, though it is considered most suitable for kids six and under. This event is free, it runs from 10 to 11 a.m. and no registration is required.

Lace up those skates

Innisfil Smile Solutions is hosting a free community skate in the Red rink at the Innisfil Recreational Complex (7315 Yonge St.) on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:50 p.m. Get more details by calling 705-436-3000 or visiting innisfilsmilesolutions.ca.

Take a trip to Candy Land

Staycation Celebration: Board Game Cafe runs at the Innisfil library’s Lakeshore branch Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. From Candy Land and Codenames to Splendor and Sushi Go Party!, there’s plenty available to play. This event is free and suitable for kids ages four and older. No registration is required.

Bradford mayor, council hosting levee

Welcome in 2025 with the eighth annual Mayor’s New Year's Levee at the BWG Leisure Centre (471 West Park Ave.) on Sunday, Jan. 5, from noon to 2:15 p.m. The free event kicks off with a council receiving line and cake, and there’s also a balloon twister, leisure skating, family sports in the gymnasium, and music from Russ Clayton. Coffee, tea and punch will also be served. For more information, visit townofbwg.com.
