Fire at Lefroy house displaces homeowners, but no injuries reported

Firefighters called to the property just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday; fire chief says preliminary estimates peg damage at about $200,000

A fire has likely caused a couple hundred thousand dollars in damage to a home on Ferrier Avenue in Lefroy.

Innisfil Fire and Rescue Services crews were called to the property just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday (March 11). The blaze seems to have started in the back of the house and spread to the attic, Fire Chief Brent Thomas told InnisfilToday.

No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported, he said.

“Fire is in a non-hydrant area so tankers were used to bring water to the scene,” Thomas said.

An investigation is underway, but the incident isn’t considered suspicious at this time.

The homeowners have been in contact with their insurance company and they will be displaced as a result of the fire, Thomas said.

“Initial thoughts are damage (is) $200,000 until we can do some more investigation,” he said.
