With extreme heat expected for the Canada Day long weekend, there are several locations around Bradford West Gwillimbury where residents can cool off.
Splash pads at Bradford Lions, Dreamfields, Kuzmich and Henderson parks will be open every day until 9 p.m.
On Thursday, the BWG Public Library will be open 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the BWG Leisure Centre will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
On Friday, the library will be open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the leisure centre will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
On Saturday, the library will be open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and the leisure centre will be open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Sunday, a special cooling centre will be open at the Bradford & District Memorial Community Centre at 125 Simcoe Rd. from noon to 10 p.m.
The town’s Canada Day celebrations will take place at the community centre from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. All other municipal facilities are closed that day.
On Monday, the leisure centre will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Even if people do not partake in any programs at these facilities, they are welcome to find relief in the air conditioning and drink from the water fountains.
