Family, fitness and fun at BWG's Leisure Centre (10 photos)

Fun was had by all at the BWG Leisure Centre's Family Day festivities

It was all about the fun for Family Day at the BWG Leisure Centre on Monday.

From Open Gym time to Family Drop-in Sports in the gymnasium, to Zumba, stretch and Free Family Yoga classes in the fitness centre, it was up to you how you wanted to spend your day.The pool was also open for Parent and Tot and Leisure Swims throughout the day.

Smiles could be seen across both skating rinks as Bradford’s Royal Bank hosted a free family skate in the morning.

“We opened this arena nine years ago and this is our ninth year bringing a free family skate to Bradford for Family Day,” said Wayne Brakeboer, Community Manager for the Royal Bank of Canada in Bradford.

“Once a month, the fitness centre does a free family yoga class, where parents and their children, aged four and older, can come do yoga together. In the summer, these classes are done outside, but for today, we’re in the fitness centre,” explained Terri Price, Program Coordinator for the BWG Leisure Centre.

The free family yoga classes can be found on the BWG Leisure Centre event calendar through their website or social media.

For anyone who wants to come out to the Leisure Centre for a little fun and fitness, this Saturday is the 5th Annual Megathon in support of the Southlake Walk of Life Foundation and all are welcome.

“The Megathon is a fundraiser where participants can donate $30 to do up to five, 35 minute fitness classes in four hours,” explained Enrico Mazzone, Fitness Programmer for the BWG Leisure Centre.

“We partner with the Cardiac Rehab and Prevention Program that Southlake offers here on Monday mornings, which gives people who have completed the Southlake program somewhere to transition to, right here in the community,” he continued.

The BWG Leisure Centre Fitness Centre is trying to raise $10,000 with the Megathon and they’re already well on their way.

If you can’t make it out to the classes but still want to help, donations are being accepted through the fitness centre in the BWG Leisure Centre.
