Everything's just peachy at the Bradford Farmers' Market (4 photos)

Peach Fest is coming to the Bradford Farmers' Market on Saturday.

There were lots of carrots at the Bradford Farmers’ Market on Carrot Fest Saturday, but the market itself was fairly quiet.

All of the bustle and activity was focused on Bradford’s downtown core, where the Carrot Fest street festival was in full swing - a day-long celebration of everything ‘carrot’ that attracted thousands of visitors.

Downtown, Carrot Fest mascots Gwilly and Captain Carrot mingled with the crowds, buskers and bands entertained, and the Holland Marsh Growers Association handed out 10,000 bags of free carrots, donated by local farms.

The market couldn’t compete.

It will be a different story this coming Saturday, Aug. 24. That’s when the Bradford Farmers’ Market celebrates Peach Fest.

Luscious peaches and other tender fruits from Niagara Region, fresh produce from the Holland Marsh and highland farms, and peachy treats from the Markets’ bakers will be available from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the parking lot beside the BWG Public Library and Cultural Centre.

Local artisans will join the regular vendors for this special event. And to top it off, Elvis (singer Russ Clayton, in another guise) will entertain with favourite songs by The King.

Everyone is invited to come out and support the local farmers’ market, and enjoy a “just peachy” morning in Bradford.
