MARQUEE THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS

Marquee Theatrical Productions is staging its first adult production since 2019 with Elf the Musical.
There will be 10 performances of the festive, family-friendly show between Nov. 10 to 20 at the NewRoads Performing Arts Centre (505 Pickering Cres., Newmarket).
“This is such a magical time of year and this family show makes you feel all the warm fuzzies, laugh a bunch, smile and tap your toes as you watch this holiday classic come to life,” says Sheryl Thomas, Marquee’s executive producer.
Elf the Musical is the comedic tale of Buddy, a young orphan, who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole. The would-be elf is raised unaware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn’t even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.
The cast, crew, and orchestra is entirely composed of volunteers from York Region and the Greater Toronto Area. This includes 24 performers, both adults and youth, and a 15-piece orchestra.
Shows continue at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 17 to 19, and at 1 p.m. on Nov. 19 and 20. Tickets are available online.
Guests can also purchase a subscription to Marquee’s 2022/2023 season, which includes tickets to Elf the Musical and The Addams Family, which Marquee will be performing in April 2023. This is the best deal to see both shows.
