Start with thousands of chocolate Easter eggs, a visit from the Easter bunny, and a chance to find a golden egg, and win prizes that include movie passes for four.
Add to that thousands of spring flowers in bloom, and you have the annual Good Friday Easter Egg Hunt at Bradford Greenhouses Garden Gallery.
This year’s Easter Egg Hunt embraced a new format: instead of long lineups, vehicles parked on both sides of Yonge Street, and everyone showing up at the same time, families could online register for one of three sessions, at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. – and take their time, hunting through the greenhouses for Easter eggs or posing for photos with the big bunny.
Each session had space for about 150 kids, and “sold out” for the free event. The only cost? A donation of non-perishable food for the Helping Hand Food Bank in Bradford.
Staff at the garden gallery were joined by volunteers – including, for a fourth year, members of the Bradford Leos Club, who helped make sure that every child found enough of the chocolate eggs.
There were smiles everywhere, as parents and caregivers helped their little ones hunt through the flowers – and then picked up crocuses, tulips and hyacinths, and Easter lilies for the holidays.
