A family pet perished in house fire Tuesday night and the home suffered significant damage due to the blaze.

On Tuesday night around 7:30 p.m., Bradford firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire on Tornado Drive. Crews arrived to find a house heavily involved with fire.

Firefighters performed an aggressive, interior fire attack and had the fire under control quickly.

Bradford Fire was assisted by King Fire in bringing water to the scene as there are no hydrants in the area. Innisfil Fire also assisted by staffing the Bradford fire station; they were ready to respond to any other call for emergency in Bradford.

There is significant damage to the home and the tenants will not be able to return to the home until major repairs are made. There were working smoke alarms and the residents self evacuated without injury.

Unfortunately, a family pet (dog) was unable to be rescued.
