You might notice a giant horse in front of Barrie City Hall on Wednesday.
As part of a provincewide "Trojan Horse tour," CUPE’s Ontario Council of Hospital Unions (OCHU-CUPE) and the Ontario Health Coalition are calling for an end to ongoing privatization of hospital surgeries and diagnostic tests. They are demanding the government invest in staffing and capacity in public hospitals.
The 15-foot wooden Trojan Horse symbolizes the “duplicity of the Ontario PCs' hospital services privatization plan," according to a news release from CUPE.
Speakers on Wednesday are scheduled to include OCHU-CUPE first vice-president Kevin Cook and local resident Anisa Carrascal, from the Simcoe County Health Coalition.
The event is set to begin at 1 p.m. at city hall, located at 70 Collier St.
