Matthews House Hospice (MHH) is continually amazed by the generous support of our community.

As a result of the community support, we raised over $309,000 throughout December and January for our annual holiday giving campaign. This year, the holiday campaign highlighted the impact that our community hospice programs make in the lives of our clients and their families.

With over 55 community education and support programs, MHH is honoured to provide community clients with compassionate care and support as they navigate through their journey of a life-limiting illness, end-of-life, or as they grieve the loss of someone special. We value our opportunity to be there for our clients, their caregivers, families, and friends when they need us. It is because of the generous commitment of the community that we are able to offer an ever-increasing number of programs.

Our Hospice@Home program is instrumental in enhancing the quality of life of our clients and their families while navigating a life-limiting illness at home. Last year, we were able to provide 1,834 home visits to our clients. Our personal support workers assist with personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, as well as providing a listening ear and friendly companionship. This program supports a client’s ability and wish to stay at home safely until they pass away. Caregivers are at the centre of a client’s support system. Hospice@Home also provides caregivers much-needed relief by making valuable time for themselves and time to assist their loved ones’ care needs.

Thank you to all who generously contributed to the holiday campaign. We consider you to be a partner with us in the care and support we provide to our community.

“Thank you to everyone who kindly included Matthews House in their giving plans this holiday season. We value the dedicated support our community showed in supporting hospice care at home,” says Margaret Bachle, chief executive officer.

Matthews House Hospice walks together with individuals and families through the journey of illness and grief and bereavement by providing hospice and community services to all in south Simcoe County, including New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio, Bradford West Gwillimbury, Essa, Innisfil and surrounding communities. As a leader in quality hospice care and support services, Matthews House helps our community live life fully and die with dignity.
