Community & Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) has announced a new annual fundraising car rally called the Amazing Adventure on Oct. 15.
Teams will search out various checkpoints around the York Region and south Simcoe area.
“I’ve had so much fun in past car rallies for CHATS that I signed up right away for this new format,” said Newmarket resident Sylvie Lessard in a news release. “It’s a great way to spend the day with friends, and bring attention to an important organization that is an integral part of our community.”
The event — the first of its kind in the area — is an Amazing Race-style competition that will raise funds for the organization that supports local seniors with a variety of programs and services.
While not an actual race, the event offers participants challenges like: one person takes a photo of a person, place or thing, outdoors, or in a store or building, along with physical challenges, tasting challenges and more. You may purchase an express pass with your registration or find an express pass hidden along your journey to bypass any challenges you wish to avoid.
The event will end at Market Brewing, 17775 Leslie St. in Newmarket, with dinner, awards and a live auction.
“Seniors have been combating the impacts of social isolation long before the pandemic,” said Christina Bisanz, CEO of CHATS. “Fundraisers like the Amazing Adventure helps CHATS to provide older adults with programs and services that enable them to live well, independently and with dignity in their own communities.”
CHATS will also be hosting a kickoff event for The Amazing Adventure at Goblets & Goblins in Newmarket, 17766 Leslie St., on Sunday, Sept. 24 from 1 to 5 p.m. for those interested to learn more and register.
The kickoff event will include a food and vendor market and is free admission.
The Amazing Adventure will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15 at CHATS head office, 240 Edward St. Learn more and register, $50, here.
