The BWG Leisure Centre is celebrating its 10th Anniversary this month and to commemorate this milestone, we invite our community to participate in an Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, May 28, followed by a week-long membership appreciation event.
A state-of-the-art recreation facility, BWG’s Leisure Centre opened its doors in 2012, featuring a fitness centre, gymnasium, two NHL sized rinks, and an aquatic centre. Over the last 10 years, the Leisure Centre has served our community offering a variety of programs for both member and non-member residents of all ages, a home to our local hockey teams, a training place for leisure sports, and a space to host special events.
Join the Town of BWG on Saturday, May 28, to celebrate the Leisure Centre’s milestone Anniversary with cake, entertainment, games, giveaways, and more!
All community members are invited to join us from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the west library lawn for an afternoon of live entertainment and activities, featuring:
· local bands The Cara Lea Band, and Kurtis + The Crosswinds,
· magician Chris Westfall and busker Scarlett Black,
· games and contests at the Library & Cultural Centre booth,
· fitness challenges and equipment demos, hosted by our fitness team, and
· water safety activities, hosted by our aquatic team.
Enjoy other family-friendly events indoors at the BWG Leisure Centre, including a Parent & Tot Drop-in and Family Drop-in Sports at the gymnasium (fees apply), free Leisure Skating and Leisure Swimming, and a complimentary Bollywood Fitness Class.
The celebrations don’t end there – the Fitness Team is offering a week-long membership appreciation from Sunday, May 29, to Friday, June 3, including a 10km Run/Relay, Pop-up Classes, a Lunch & Learn, a Nutrition Workshop, and more.
“The opening of the Leisure Centre, back in 2012, was a long-awaited facility for our community. Its opening marked a positive start to an amazing journey over the last 10 years, says Nick Warman, Manager of Recreation & Client Services. “Over 10 years we have continuously enhanced our services at the Centre. Every day is different, offering residents a full and diverse schedule of activities, from hockey in the arenas, drop-in basketball in the gymnasium, swimming lessons in the pool, and fitness members on the walking track. The Leisure Centre has realized its goal of becoming a facility that residents of all ages would embrace and enjoy. We look forward to continuing on this path of offering our community the best experience at our facility.”
