Since 2018, Bridget’s Bunnies has delivered nearly 200 comfort kits to hospitals in the Barrie area for families who experience pregnancy or infant loss.

The kits are intended to provide gentle direction and lots of compassion, and have been curated by Theresa and Mat Morrison.

The couple was inspired by their beautiful baby, Bridget Bell, who was born still just one day shy of her due date, following a healthy pregnancy.

This past March, one of the Bridget’s Bunnies kits delivered to the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre was received by Jenna Dollin after her daughter Rosie died shortly after birth. The kit’s impact on Jenna’s grieving process has inspired her to make the Bridget Bunnies kits available to more families in the Alliston and New Tecumseth area.

So far, Jenna has provided 10 kits to the Stevenson Memorial Hospital in honour of her daughter Rosie with plans to continue providing families with kits.

Through the Bridget’s Bunnies donation program, Jenna has set up a dedicated fund in order to provide more kits to families who are grieving the loss of a child.

“Losing my daughter was one of the darkest moments in my life,” said Jenna. “The kit served me for the first few months. It was like a grief guide, and I felt less alone. I don’t want any women to experience what I did, but if they do, I hope they have access to all the same resources I did.”

About the kits

Bridget’s Bunnies kits include hand and foot molds to create lasting memories, books on grief and infant loss, stuffed bunnies for both the baby and parents, and other essentials.

There is also a pregnancy loss kit that provides support for families experiencing a miscarriage.

Presently, kits are available at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and the Stevenson Memorial Hospital. Bridget’s Bunnies plans to expand to the Georgian Bay General Hospital in the spring of 2021.
