Brigitte Collins is a beloved member of the Bradford community, whose daily efforts to make the community a better place have not gone unnoticed by those around her.
As the executive director at The Elden of Bradford retirement residence, she works diligently on a daily basis to ensure all of her residents' needs are met.
She is known for her incredible ability to uplift those around her, making sure that their efforts are acknowledged and appreciated.
Brigitte truly exemplifies what it means to be a compassionate leader that others look up to. She has formed special bonds with many of the seniors who call The Elden of Bradford home.
BradfordToday was delighted to surprise Brigitte with a Random Act of Kindness gift delivery to give recognition to her unwavering dedication - something that her colleagues and residents see in action each day.
Brigitte was initially shocked, not expecting to see the BradfordToday team show up at her place of work. She was beyond grateful to receive flowers, a gift card for a shopping spree and a well-deserved trip to the spa.
“I really had no idea what was going on,” Brigitte laughed. “I thought ‘It’s not my birthday, it’s not an anniversary, so what’s going on here?’ I wondered what I did to deserve this but then I remembered how much the team has done lately as a whole. I wasn’t thinking of me, I was thinking of ‘we’.”
“Her support and dedication have flown under the radar so she deserves this recognition,” said Jaime Robertson, Brigitte’s nominator. “It’s her turn now.”
Brigitte is an animal lover and often brings her two dogs in for visits to The Elden. It brightens the residents’ day to be able to spend time with the dogs.
“It spreads happiness around to everyone. It’s the best medicine,” Brigitte shared.
“It’s been an honour to be able to not only help open the residence and work here, but to also make the residents feel like this is their home and that we’re one big happy family,” she said.
