Bradford Wolves give back with annual toy drive

Bradford soccer club collect toy and food donations for those in need

The Bradford Wolves Soccer Club hosted its annual toy and food drive at the sports dome this week where parents of soccer players were able to drop off new, unwrapped toys or non-perishable food items for families in need this holiday.

“The Wolves love to give back and this year is no different,” states Helder Botas, President of the Bradford Wolves Soccer Club.

The club changed to a ‘youth club’ in October and has grown from 35 to 130 kids, all within the capability of Covid. The dome is allowed 50 players per hour, every Tuesday and Thursday.

“We always do a food drive or car drive every year,” notes Botas. “This year we decided to do a toy drive because we have all the youth coming through [the dome] so we thought it would be a good spot to do it here."

The club collects locally and keeps the donations in the community through connections with the Bradford Lions Club.

Tonight and next Friday Dec. 18 from 8 p.m. - 9 p.m. the club is hosting an open house to give children a chance to experience soccer firsthand before registering.

The club has been around since 1977 and was officially named the Bradford Wolves in 2014. Botas has been the president of the club since 2013 and enjoys working with the players and giving back to the community.

“We feel good about it and it’s something we can do to give back to the community,” adds Botas.
