On Monday morning, the children and staff from Bradford Progress Child Care North Centre walked over to the Helping Hand Food Bank to drop off their collection of non-perishable food items.
All together, 37 pre-school children each brought one bag full of donations, along with two additional wagons filled with canned goods.
This was the second year the centre participated in a holiday food drive, getting the families from all 12 locations involved.
In addition to the food drive, every year the Bradford Progress Centre fundraises for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto,by hosting a variety of activities and events throughout the holidays.
This year, the centres participated in jersey days every Friday in November, where children and staff wore a team jersey and donated money to support Sick Kids. Every class had a piggy bank where the money was collected.
At the staff holiday axe throwing event, the group raised and additional $385 to put toward the cause.
In total, the centre was able to raise $3,129.55 in five weeks.
Kim Cullen, Executive Director for Bradford Progress Centre says the fundraiser and food drive have been a lot of fun for both the families and staff.
"With thanks to our wonderful families and staff we have not only supported Sick Kids, but have provided food for families in the community as well," she said.
