Bradford photographer Cassidy Hilliard is taking appointments for her holiday photo sessions this month, with part of the proceeds going to charity.

Since 2017, Hilliard who owns Hillside Photography has been booking holiday photo sessions in support of local charities and families in need.

"Each year since then they have grown and grown! With more bookings and more local businesses stepping up to help out, donate, and even participate in the minis," said Hilliard.

Like last year, she will be donating half of the proceeds from her Christmas sessions to CrossTrainers Canada and their Christmas Wishlist program.

For the past 13 years, CrossTrainers' Christmas Wishlist program has been helping Bradford families in need experience Christmas cheer by providing food, clothing, and Christmas presents during the holidays.

Last year, Hilliard was able to raise $3,100 for the cause, helping to purchase gifts for all 148 people on the list.

Families submit their Christmas wishlist items to A Hand Up Clothing Room (run by CrossTrainers Canada) in Bradford, which are then published on their website for community members to view and fulfill by 'adopting' a family.

For anyone who isn’t adopted,  CrossTrainers will use donated funds to purchase the remaining wish list items.

Just before Christmas, members of the community will drop off their unwrapped gifts and CrossTrainers hosts a Christmas turkey dinner where families are able to pick up their gifts and enjoy a warm meal.

Hilliard says her favourite part about the whole experience is getting to see families pick up their Wishlist items.

"It's like seeing a child's face on Christmas morning, running down the stairs, and seeing presents under the Christmas tree. I got to see that for over 148 people last year," said Hilliard. "It is a feeling of happiness; helping others feels good. It allows me to show my gratitude, inspire others to give, and just help those in need."

Hilliard's photo sessions are 15 minutes long and will be taken in five different holiday-themed setups, including one made by local businesses Jen Feeney Events and Magical Events.

Sessions will be taking place on Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27 at Chestnut Creek at 4264 8th Line, Bradford, who have graciously donated their space for this event.

Each session is $200 with 50 per cent of the funds going towards CrossTrainers Canada.

"I continue to host my Christmas Minis each year because there continues to be a need for local non-profit organizations and local Bradford families, especially at Christmas time," said Hilliard. "One of my favourite movie quotes is from the movie Robots: 'See a need, fill a need'.  I am lucky enough to be able to help so many people through my business but also provide my clients with beautiful photos; it's a win-win for everyone."
