On Saturday Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. , the Bradford Lions Club will be hosting a drive-thru bottle (and can) collection at the Lion’s Park on the upper level playground at 226 Colborne St., Bradford.
Residents will be able to drive up and pop their trunks for a contactless collection of any bottles or cans to donate. All donations will be returned to the local Beer Store and 100 percent of the proceeds will be going to the Helping Hand Food Bank for their Holiday Hamper Campaign.
“Hopefully we get a really good turn out!” exclaims Lions member Jim Slykhuis.
The Lions Club will be joined by A Bradford Christmas charity organization to further support the drive’s fundraiser for the Helping Hand Food Bank.
“I don’t care if you only have two bottles, every little bit helps!” explains Slykhuis. “We will be masked and gloved while interacting with the public and dealing with the bottles. We’re just as concerned about Covid, but we want the public to know the Lions are still here… we haven’t gone away."
The Bradford Lions Club typically hosts their annual “Breakfast with Santa” in November but due to the rising number of Covid cases, the Lions decided to cancel the event.
“With restrictions on numbers, it’s just not practical right now,” explains Slykhuis. “It was great seeing the little kids with Santa, but even Santa has to be careful with Covid."
Be sure to stop by the Lion’s Park on Saturday Nov. 7 anytime between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. with your bottles and cans to help support the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank.
