The first week of school is always an exciting day, especially when it's your very first time going to school.
This week, the junior kindergarten (JK) classes started their week a little later than the rest of the grades to help ease them into their new routine.
JK students at Chris Hadfield were invited to meet with the teacher on Wednesday and have a look around their new classroom to get familiar with their new surroundings.
Mother, Maliha said it was helpful coming in the day before to have her and her son Hadi's questions answered.
"It's exciting. I had so many questions for the teachers yesterday. But he's excited and looking forward to school," she said.
The JK students and their parents met in the gym for 9:15 a.m. on Thursday morning where principal Robin Dashnay greeted and welcomed all the new students to the school.
"It's an exciting day, it's always exciting to have new students join our new community. We're really just looking to make this day as comfortable as possible," said principal Robin Dashnay.
"We're a big growing school but the staff works really hard at making it a small school feel at the same time."
After the welcome message, parents waved goodbye as the students were led by their teachers to their new classrooms.
There were a few tears but mostly smiles on the parents faces, excited for their youngsters embarking on a new chapter in life.
