On Tuesday night, members from the Bradford Islamic Community Centre (BICC) stopped by the MacIsaac family’s home in Bradford with a donation to help 14-year-old Daleyn, who is currently undergoing dialysis treatments at Sick Kids Hospital for a rare autoimmune disease, ANCA Vasculitis.

Sana Suhail, Yasmin Nazi, Nargis Ifthikhar, Gulghutai Tokhi and Erum Sher presented a cheque to Daleyn for $1000, along with words and prayers of support for the entire family.

The women had read about Daelyn’s story in BradfordToday and wanted to help.

Daleyn and her family were humbled by their generous donation and well wishes.

“We just wanted to give you this from us,” said Sahil as she handed the cheque to Daelyn.

"We are praying for you, you've got all the kids at Bradford High praying for you too. You focus on getting better."

A humbled Daleyn thanked the women and hugged them for their kind gesture

"Thank you very much, this is a really big help," said Daleyn's mother, Minerva.

Daleyn is in her first year of high school at Bradford District High School. She attends on days when she is feeling well, in between her treatments in Toronto.

“The school’s been really helpful,” said Daleyn. They have been accommodating her schedule as best they can.

Daleyn’s father, Dale says the doctors will be releasing a study on Daleyn’s condition sometime in the beginning of December.

“Because what Daleyn has is so rare, hopefully it will show us how best to proceed,” he said about the upcoming study.

The BICC is proud to be part of the Bradford community and happy to give back.

The community was established as a charitable organization in 2014. They make regular donations to the local food bank and participate in many community events. To learn more about their services and programs, check out their website here.
