Bradford's clock tower is one of several landmarks in town set to be illuminated in blue on Monday April 1, as part of an attempted world record in honour of the Royal Canadian Air Force's 100th anniversay.

A wave of Air Force Blue is set to wash over the country on Easter Monday, including right here in Bradford, and it might even set a world record.

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), buildings and landmarks across Canada and around the world are set to be illuminated in blue on April 1, including the Bradford West Gwillimbury Public Library, the Bradford West Gwillimbury Court House and clock tower, Royal Canadian Legion branch 521 and some municipal offices; as well as the Innisfil Town Square, Innisfil Beach Park and legion branch 547 in Belle Ewart.

As part of the effort to recognize the service of the men and women of the RCAF both past and present, everyone is welcome to join by registering their residence and/or workplace and sharing pictures of the buildings while illuminated on social media using the hashtags #RCAF100 and #100YearsOfFlyingBlue.

The hope is to break a Guinness World Record for the most landmarks illuminated within 24 hours.

To register your participation in the event and have your building(s) added to the list of locations that will be taking part, please email Capt. Aaron Niles at [email protected].
