Last night was a special one at Station One of Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services.
Not only was a new group of recruits welcomed, some very important milestones and achievements were marked.
York-Simcoe MP Scot Davidson was among the dignitaries at the event.
"They say if you save one life, you're a hero. But if you save a hundred lives, you're a firefighter," said Davidson.
"I was glad to be able to thank and commend those attending the award ceremony last evening. Our community greatly appreciates each of these firefighter recruits and those celebrating exemplary service at the Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services," Davidson told BradfordToday.
"These firefighters, even while being recognized and awarded, were ready to jump in their trucks and respond to a call. They demonstrate professionalism, bravery, and commitment to community every single day," said Davidson.
"On behalf of all York-Simcoe residents, I'd like to extend my sincere congratulations to everyone who was being recognized or sworn in for duty."
The recruit class of 2023 (probationary firefighters) include: AJ Cove, Cortney Auld, Curtis Gasko, Dalton Wilson, Dylan Lormand, Even McEnery, Michael Kelly, Nicole Smith, Rebecca Mitchell, Ryan Papineau, Sean Winter and Zachary Mattews.
