Bradford Fire Captain Garth Bray is retiring after 32 years of service

Bradford Fire's Captain Garth Bray has retired after 32 years of service. Bray started as a volunteer with Bradford Fire in 1988 and in 1992 achieved full time status.  In 2007, he was promoted to Captain.

A breakfast was held Sunday morning at the Fire Hall with all the BWG firefighters, employees and management to honour Bray and his years of service.

An emotional Bray paged out his last message 'Back in station, off the air' on the Barrie Dispatch radio system after they honoured him over their dispatch system for all fire halls in the area to hear.

Bray has no immediate plans for retirement other than spending quality time with his family.

Some of the things his crew will miss most include his ability to diffuse stressful situations with humour, the way he pulled up his socks, and the fun nicknames he made up for everyone.
