Monday was National Seniors Day and, to celebrate, the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre and Community and Home Assistance to Seniors (CHATS) partnered to serve seniors with a free pancake and sausage breakfast.
“Thank you for all you do for your town,” said Bradford West Gwillimbury Mayor Rob Keffer, reading an official notice proclaiming National Seniors Day. “CHATS and the Danube centre represent two of the excellent organizations that provide services for seniors.”
Serving breakfast were BWG firefighters, South Simcoe Police Special Const. Elisabeth Aschwanden, and members of BWG council, as the Blue Sky Bluegrass Band entertained with tunes that included an improvised Pancake Boogie.
Counting the volunteers, there were well over 100 people at the breakfast. Attending the event were members of the Danube centre, seniors from various CHATS programs, and guests from as far afield as Lakeside Retirement at Innisfil, who came out to celebrate National Seniors Day.
