Bradford celebrates Diwali

The second annual Bradford Diwali Gala was held at the Portuguese Cultural Centre

A very vibrant and colourful crowd came together last night to enjoy Diwali in Bradford.

Deepawali, better known as ‘Diwali’, is the festival of lights. It is India's most important holiday.

For some people, Diwali coincides with the harvest season and heralds in the start of a new year. But above all else, Diwali celebrates the symbolic victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

The second annual Bradford Diwali Gala held at the Portuguese Cultural Centre was filled with culture, diversity, food, networking, lights, live music, talents, entertainment and a Bollywood dance.

Highlights of the evening included the many performances put on by the children and youth of the community dressed in traditional attire celebrating Indian culture.
