Sisters Sarah and Emily Dahlgren were all smiles behind their masks on Friday afternoon after Canadian Tire Bradford store owners Mark and Diana Sheeler handed them a $5,000 cheque for their charity, A Bradford Christmas.
The girls are in the home-stretch of their three-month-long fundraiser, trying to raise $50,000 toward the Helping Hand Food Bank and their holiday hampers.
To date, they have raised a total of $30,000 from community donations and fundraising events.
In addition to their donation to the food bank, The Sheelers recently donated $5,000 in gift cards to the Bradford District High School 'Adopt a Family' program. They have owned the Bradford store since 2015, and are happy to be part of such a supportive community.
"It's always been hugely important to give back to the community that supports us," said Mark.
"What a wonderful place to have a business like this," added Diana.
The girls have a few more events this week, before handing over their funds to the food bank in a cheque presentation on Thursday morning.
Their last push is their silent auction, which continues to receive numerous prize donations from local businesses. There are two days left to bid, and the girls are hoping to get as close to their goal as possible.
Some of the items in the auction include a beer gift pack from Market Brewery, sterling silver rose pendant necklace, and a large life-sized teddy bear, 'Bradford' donated by the Sheelers from their Canadian Tire store.
