The Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's basketball teams will host playoff games this weekend in Barrie.
Fans are encourage to come out Saturday and cheer on the local players, who are taking part in the Ontario Collegiate Athletic Association (OCAA) playoffs on their home court at Georgian College.
"True underdogs, the women’s basketball team has overcome adversity after having to pull out of the 2022-23 season due to an unexpected increase in player injuries and a drop in players," states a release from the college. "The Grizzlies had their best season in program history in 2023-24 and fell just short in the first round of playoffs."
Coach Brian Hutton recruited and trained a lineup of "resilient and talented players, turning the team around to become a true competitor."
The women's varsity squad will take on the Redeemer Royals, while the men's varsity team will battle the Conestoga Condors.
The women's game begins at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 3:30 p.m.
The games will take place at the Michele McConney Court, J building, in the gym, at 1 Georgian Dr.
