February 14 is Valentine’s Day, and the Boston Pizza restaurant in Bradford is ready.

Not only is the restaurant selling heart-shaped pizzas for Valentine’s, it is also selling red paper hearts for $2, with all of the proceeds going to CHATS Community and Home Assistance to Seniors.

The paper heart sales, which have been ongoing for almost a month, will wrap up on Valentine’s Day, when $1 from every Heart Pizza sold and $1 from every Chocolate Mousse dessert will also go to CHATS.

The goal is to raise $1,500 for the non-profit organization which provides a wide range of services to seniors in Bradford West Gwillimbury and York Region – from adult day programs, to meals on wheels and transportation.

Franchise owner Harpreet Nijher noted that each Boston Pizza “can pick our own charity,” to receive a donation.

During its Grand Opening, the Bradford restaurant chose the Friends of the BWG Public Library, a volunteer group that raises funds for children’s programming and special projects at the library.

For Valentine’s Day, staff suggested CHATS.

“It’s a way to support the community,” Nijher said.

Bradford’s Boston Pizza only opened last year but it has already become an important part of the community, supporting a number of groups through special “Celebrity Server’ fundraising evenings. Charities, from hockey teams to the Community Living Association of South Simcoe (C.L.A.S.S.), generally receive 10 percent of related sales.

On Feb. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m., the Bradford Women’s+ Group will be holding their First Birthday Celebration and fundraiser at Boston Pizza, hoping to raise enough to ensure that the monthly sessions at the library’s Zima Room remain free for all who wish to attend.

Tickets to the fundraiser are only $15 per person, for an 18+ evening that will include prizes, a Silent Auction, and Trivia Night. Food and drinks are not included in the ticket price, but organizers are encouraging everyone to check out the menu: Boston Pizza is once again donating a portion of the evening’s receipts to the Group.

Boston Pizza is located at 438 Holland St. West in Bradford. Any group wishing to hold a fundraising evening, with their own Celebrity Servers, is asked to contact Harpreet Nijher at 905-775-6060.
