Ballots topped up in York-Simcoe riding ahead of provincial election

Eight is enough in York-Simcoe, apparently. 

The deadline for nominations for the upcoming Ontario election was this afternoon. According to the Elections Ontario website Thursday evening, eight candidates have registered to run in the riding — Progressive Conservative incumbent Caroline Mulroney, Liberal Fatima Chaudhry, New Democrat Justin Graham, Green Party’s Jennifer Baron, New Blue’s Brent Fellman, Ontario Moderate Party’s Franco Colavecchia, Libertarian Sean Conroy, and Ontario Party’s Alana Hollander.

Prospective candidates had until 2 p.m. today to file their nomination paperwork with Elections Ontario.

There were also eight local candidates in the 2022 election — Mulroney won with nearly 56.8 per cent of the vote. 

York-Simcoe is roughly 1,100 square kilometres in size. With a population of 124,458, it includes the towns of Bradford West Gwillimbury, East Gwillimbury and Georgina, as well as the Township of King.
