Bradford girl gets a birthday parade at Lion's Park

Yesterday, Bradford youngster, Lily turned four.

And even though she couldn't celebrate originally as planned, with family and friends, she wasn't too upset when her mother, Chelsea Beattie, organized a small parade in her honour.

"With the COVID-19,  we can’t have a party so we saw on Facebook about a little girl in the states having a drive by parade! So we as a community thought this would be amazing," explained Beattie.

On Thursday afternoon, neighbours and friends drove to the Lion's Park parking lot with balloons and signs on their vehicles to wish Lily a happy birthday.

Fifteen to 20 vehicles came out for to celebrate.

Karen Brown was one of the neighbours who participated in the event with her kids.

"I think it's sweet," she said about the event, acknowledging it is unfortunate for kids celebrating birthdays during these days of social distancing.

"But I’m glad everyone is pulling together for the kids. It’s something we can do to make a bad situation a bit better."

Lily thoroughly enjoyed her parade.

"She loved every minute of it," said Beattie.

"As her mother, I can’t thank the community enough for coming together and making it so special."
