3 Scoops opens its ‘window’’ for the season

3 Scoops is back for another season in the downtown core

Bradford's 3 Scoops Ice Cream shop opened for the season over the weekend, and customers were happy to have a taste of their favourite seasonal treat.

Shop owner, Cherly LeBlond said she wasn't even sure she would have a season at all this year, thanks to COVID-19. As a small business, she said she had to be creative if she wanted to remain open, following social distancing measures.

The store, which is located just north of the four corners at 11 Barrie St., has a front sliding window where customers are able to place and pick up orders. LeBlond said opening weekend was a success thanks to all the loyal customers.

"I'm glad my system is working, I had to be creative," she said. "I'm really proud that they (customers) all kept their social distance."

"I had one gentleman tell me he loved my system and it reminded him of back in the day when they used to order ice cream from my window outside," she said.

This will be LeBlond's seventh year in business at her downtown shop. While there are some products she won't be able to serve this year due to issues with the dairy line production not running at full capacity, she said there are still many menu items for customers to enjoy.

"I'm hoping to get yogurt bars for frozen yogurt, cookies for ice cream sandwiches and toppings for sundaes," she said. "I have some restrictions that stop me from doing things like banana split icecream sundaes, so right now it's just ice cream or milkshakes."

Jackie Kozak and her daughter Jocelyn enjoyed a bike ride to the shop on Sunday to grab some ice cream.

"I'm lactose-intolerant and that still didn't stop me from going out to grab some 3 Scoops delicious ice cream flavours," she said. She ordered Moose Tracks for herself, and chocolate for Jocelyn.

"It was the best. (It) brought a bit of normalcy into our day."

Kelly and Mitch Peake took their two daughters Mackenzie and Ryleigh for some ice cream on Sunday as well.

"Last year we had such great memories going to 3 Scoops," said Kelly. "So we thought we'd start off the first hot day of the season supporting a local business and enjoying some ice cream."

3 Scoops is now open daily from 2 - 8 p.m. and starting the Victoria Day long weekend from 2 - 10 p.m. They are located at 11 Barrie St.
