Please help settle a friendly argument among me and a few of my neighbours.

They think I’m cuckoo for thinking that not only have mosquitoes and typically seen biting bugs gotten more populous and more voracious in this area in the last two weeks or so, but that I’m now frequently dealing with other species of biters that hadn’t been seen much around here.

Things seemed to get worse right around the time we turned off our air conditioning and reopened our windows. So, I’m thinking that those dastardly no-see-ums have shown up, since they are so small that they can frequently sneak through standard window and door screen mesh. They typically wait for cover of night/darkness before doing their thing. So, maybe those unexpected, sudden and acute itchy spots that flared up after I turned in weren’t just my imagination — and I’m not the hypochondriac my neighbours have made me out to be.

I also find myself being hounded and bitten by some type of fly that looks and acts far more like a typical house fly than it does a horse or deer fly (and, yes, I am familiar with the latter two).

Hopefully, and perhaps, someone you are familiar with (and/or someone they are familiar with) can shed some light and provide authoritative and knowledgeable info regarding my hunch. Would be nice to have bragging rights on my street, for at least a little while.
