South Simcoe Sonics take Silver and Bronze at local basketball tournament (13 photos)

South Simcoe Sonics host basketball tournaments over the weekend at Holy Trinity Catholic School

Despite Mother Nature’s cancellation of the Friday night portion, the South Simcoe Sonics Basketball Club U16 team hosted a successful eight team tournament this weekend at Holy Trinity Catholic High School.

Teams from as far away as Huntsville and Peterborough each played four games over the two days. The Sonics U16 team went undefeated in pool play before claiming the Silver medal, while Stony Creek NYB took home the Gold.

The Sonics U15 team stepped up an age group and powered their way to a convincing win in the Bronze medal game.

Players also participated in a three point shooting competition. Congratulations to Alex Hull of the Sonics U16 for taking home first place in that event.

Another unique feature of this tournament was the live streaming of games for out of town friends and family to view and the opportunity for teams to watch the replay of their games in the cafeteria.

Many thanks to the Holy Trinity Catholic High School Media Crew for volunteering their time to stream the event. All games can be seen on the HT MEDIA YouTube channel.

Parents of the host team were complimented by visiting fans on their exceptional hospitality.
