Earlier this month, a group of local businesses banded together to create the Donate a Dinner program to help feed front-line healthcare workers in Bradford.
They put a call out to the community, asking for monetary donations to help support the program that gives any front-line health care worker a free chicken dinner from Poleiro BBQ restaurant, owned by Tony Garcia.
Since the start of the program on April 1, so far the group has received $5,690 from the commnity with an additioanl 342 meals have been delivered and picked up to local front-line health care workers, including those at Bradford Valley Care Community and Southlake Regional Health Centre.
Garcia has even made drop offs to the staff at the Bradford Food Bank and some of the staff at Holland Street Veterinary Services.
Garcia is providing the meals from his restaurant, with support from Debbie Viveiros from Mortgage Edge, along with Jennifer Feeney of Jen Feeney Events, Sandra Silva of Kangoo Club Bradford, John Pirri of J&S Cleaning, Tanya Matias of Alpha Detailing, Anastasia Orlando and Joanna Paciorek of The Daryl King Team - Re/Max Hallmark Realty and Stephanie and Matthew Knapp of Knapp Acres.
"We continue to deliver and receive more donations," said Garcia.
"Thank you for jumping in and supporting our front line healthcare workers. This type of accomplishment cannot be reached without the tremendous support of the entire community."
The program runs throughout all of April and anyone looking to donate a dinner to a health care worker, can send a $10 e-transfer to [email protected].
