Bradford's Chief Administrative Officer Geoff McKnight has a new 'do, thanks to town staff and his 15-year-old son, Joshua.

In the town's virtual staff meeting two weeks ago, McKnight presented a challenge to his fellow colleagues: If together they could raise $1,500 for the Bradford Helping Hand Food Bank, he would cut his own hair live on camera at the town's next virtual meeting on May1. And if they could raise at least $2,000, he would let his teenage son cut it for him.

"The idea came out of a discussion I had with a colleague about fundraising ideas for the food bank," he explained. "I can’t recall how we landed on the haircut challenge but it seemed like a good idea at the time."

Over dinner one night, McKnight brought up the idea to his family, where Joshua immediately volunteered to be do the one to cut his dad's hair.

"And the rest is history!" said McKnight.

On Friday, town staff met again on their virtual call, where they were pleased to announce they had raised a total of $5,400 for the local food bank.

"I’m really proud of our team," said McKnight. "As for the haircut, I’d like to say I’ve had worse... but probably not."
