It’s now a four-way race in York-Simcoe.
The Ontario Liberal Party has announced Fatima Chaudhry as its candidate for the riding in the upcoming provincial election. She joins Progressive Conservative incumbent Caroline Mulroney, Green Party’s Jennifer Baron and the New Blue Party's Brent Fellman on the ballot.
In a biography provided to BradfordToday, Chaudhry is described as a “dedicated community leader, mother of five, and passionate advocate for a stronger Ontario.”
“With nearly two decades of experience in political engagement, she has been an active member of the Liberal Party since 2005, working tirelessly to promote policies that uplift families, strengthen public services, and create a better future for all Ontarians,” the Liberals said. “Fatima’s campaign is centred on improving Ontario’s healthcare and education systems, ensuring that every family has access to quality care and world-class learning opportunities.”
Chaudhry is “committed to reversing the cuts and privatization efforts introduced by Doug Ford’s government,” expanding healthcare access, advocating for front-line workers, and reducing class sizes and increasing funding for schools.
The deadline to run is Feb. 13.
There were eight candidates in the 2022 election — Mulroney won with nearly 56.8 per cent of the vote.
Election Day is Feb. 27. For more information on the riding, visit voterinformationservice.elections.on.ca.
