Fire guts vehicle in Bradford; no injuries

Cause of fire unknown, but police found no suspicious activity

A small cross-over vehicle went out in a blaze of glory yesterday evening.

According to Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Chief Steve Hall, firefighters received the call about a vehicle on fire parked on the street near 25 Mac Campbell Way in Bradford at 4:43 p.m. Sept. 25.

Eight firefighters attended with two fire engines and had extinguished the fire by shortly after 5 p.m. with no exposure damage, and there are no reports of any injuries.

The fire is suspected to have originated in the engine compartment, but no cause has been determined and the fire marshal is not expected to investigate.

Members of the South Simcoe Police Service also attended and closed the road to keep the area clear for firefighters.

Officers searched the vehicle, observed no suspicious activity and reopened the road just after 5:30 p.m., according to police.

Hall recommends everyone keep their vehicles in good mechanical order to help prevent incidents.
