Robin Evans of Royal LePage has once again demonstrated his unwavering commitment to the Bradford community through his highly anticipated annual charity golf tournament. Celebrating its thirteenth year, the event continues to draw support and raise significant funds for local causes, positively impacting the lives of residents across the community.

Last year's tournament, the twelfth of its series, was a rousing success, selling out instantly and raising over $26,000. This achievement exceeded all expectations, surpassing the initial target of $20,000 and aiming even higher at $30,000 this year.

Evans credits the success to the robust support from local sponsors, with over 30 businesses contributing to the cause last year alone.

The tournament's funds have been thoughtfully distributed to various local initiatives. Significant contributions have been made to programs such as Canadian Tire Jumpstart, which supports local sports programs for children by matching every dollar donated, thus doubling the contributions' impact.

Last year, $7,000 was turned into $14,000 through this matching scheme, providing substantial support to youth sports in Bradford.

The tournament also supports the Gilford Community Hall and the Danube Seniors Leisure Centre. It has been a lifeline for the breakfast programs at three Bradford schools, demonstrating a direct impact on the community's well-being.

Following a donation from Evans’ team, WOW Living Bradford said, “Thank you to Robin Evans, Georgeina Blyth, and Shawna Christophersen - Royal LePage RCR for your incredibly generous donation! Robin was originally going to donate $1,500 from his annual charity golf tournament (and we were thrilled), but after Georgeina shared the need we have for our new location, he increased it to $4,000!!! WOW!”

Looking ahead, Evans is enthusiastic about the future of the charity event, with plans to increase his donation to Canadian Tire Jumpstart to $10,000. He remains open to supporting other local needs as they arise, continuing a tradition of flexible, responsive community support.

Evans emphasizes that the event's success hinges on the generosity of sponsors and community members.

"We owe a lot to our sponsors and the local community for their tremendous support. Without them, these achievements would not be possible," said Evans, who handles all the organizational details personally to ensure that each year's tournament surpasses the last in both enjoyment and charitable impact.

As preparations for this year's tournament gear up, Evans and his team are eager to welcome new sponsors and participants who want to make a difference.

Despite the event's consistent sell-out status, opportunities to contribute through sponsorship remain open, ensuring that the tournament's impact continues to grow each year.

“We would like to thank our volunteers who come out each year and donate their time and effort to support the golf tournament. A special thank you to Kevin Watson, the owner of Harbourview Golf Course, for his endless support.”
